Project Overview
Contract Trenching Ltd were appointed to support the replacement of mains gas, water and fire hydrant services across the Edgware Community Hospital site.
Working alongside T Clarke as the main groundworks contractor, the team carried out trench excavation to facilitate the installation of new utility infrastructure. Additional ducting routes were also installed to future-proof the site for fire alarm systems and communication cabling.
Scope of Works
Operating within a live hospital environment presented significant challenges, with pedestrian safety a top priority throughout.
The team implemented strict segregation measures to safely manage the interface between the public and active construction zones, particularly around deep excavations. Careful planning and coordination ensured that all works were carried out efficiently while maintaining a safe and controlled environment.
Outcome
The project was delivered with minimal disruption to hospital operations, maintaining safe access for staff, patients and visitors at all times.
