Port of Tilbury

Client: Aureos Energy Ltd

Location: Tilbury, Essex

Sector: Maritime

Services: Delivering complex civil engineering and infrastructure works, from power and utilities upgrades to substations, roadways, and site-wide installations.

Project Overview

CTL have worked alongside Aureos Energy ( Formally SSE Contracting ) on this site for coming up to 8 years, Aureos are responsible for the entire sites HV & LV infrastructure, CTL have worked closely with Aureos undertaking a wide range of Civils works relating to the ongoing maintenance and upgrade of this large site, Given the age of the Docks maintenance upgrades are ongoing, The Port are also moving forward with mainly large aggregate contractors moving onto the site because of its proximity to the Thames, this means there is an ever growing need for power and infrastructure upgrades.

Scope of Works

Because of the ever-evolving nature of the site, it is difficult to identify any one particular project.

Recent works undertaken include:

  • Installation of an 11kVA upgrade between the Port’s main incoming power supply and a major on-site substation.
  • Replacement of ageing oil-filled cables with upgraded infrastructure, including a 1.7 km excavation across the Port.
  • Installation of a 350 m 11kVA diversion following a site change of use, routed through the Port’s ring road.
  • Construction of new substation compounds, transformer bases, palisade fencing, and associated roadways tailored to the Port’s requirements.
  • Delivery of diverse infrastructure works to meet the client’s evolving operational needs.

Outcome

Works at the Port of Tilbury are ongoing and evolving. We are currently installing handrails, precast concrete steps, pedestrian footpaths, street lighting, and EV charging points. CTL are proud to be part of the project.
